Howdy Lemon Lime is literally the original 7-UP formula. The Howdy Company decided to expand their soda line to include a lemon lime flavor, and in 1929 Howdy introduced "Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda". The name was later shortened to "7-UP Lithiated Lemon-Lime", and eventually just "7-UP", with the "Howdy" moniker getting pushed aside. Howdy is back with its intense lemon flavor, proving that the original recipe bears little resemblance to the quieted-down version of 7-UP that is mainstream today. This soda has some serious citrus flavor to it, and we recommend it as an example of a true old-fashioned soda recipe.
